If my child has heart disease can he or she attend regular school?
Yes. Even children with heart transplants are able to attend regular school.
How long after heart surgery will my child be out of school?
A full week's recuperation is usually recommended. Children can usually return to school one to two weeks after heart surgery.
Can my child take gym in school?
For most children with heart defects it is okay to take gym. Some children must rest when tired, and some may be unable to participate in competitive athletics where overexertion or rough physical strain is likely. Ask your child's doctor for specific recommendations for your child. |
